So there may be a few names in here that will come up often and you'll go "huh? Who's that?" This page will explain all the important people that are in our lives. For your convenience I shall list them in alphabetical order.
*Balaram Priya - Wife of Sri Balaram. French. About a year older than me. Lovely. Lots of fun to hang out with. Ishaan and I will be staying in their apartment when they got away to Russia for the summer.
* Dylan - Met her the day after I arrived here in Mayapur, back in March. She left back then to travel some more but is now back here to study and chill with us. Heaps of fun to hang out with. Down to earth and a super lovely person.
* Ishaan - My son. If you don't know that by now, you're not my friend. Hence no explanation needed.
* Jala - Also known as Jalasaya. One of my co-workers and good friends. Great sense of humor. Shares with me a love of good food.
* Japa - Lots of fun. Good friend. Grew up in Mayapur but has been living in Australia for awhile. He's back here for awhile now which is pretty cool. We've known each other for a long long looong time.
* Jaya - Also known as Uncle Jaya. My baby brother - he'll be 15 in December (FIFTEEN! Damn how did that happen!!?). He goes to the local boarding school here. Usually get to see him every Sunday.
* Kala - A few years younger than me. KD's wife. Mother of the most gorgeous twin girls (18 months). Met her first when I came to Mayapur about 10 years ago.
* Mandakini - Lives with her parents in the building next to my parents (opposite Mani). Left for Germany with her parents 10 days after I arrived and will hopefully come back in August.
* Mama - My mother. Also known as Momai (grandmother). Not a hard one to figure out. No explanation.
* Mani - Known her for a few years. Lives with her parents in the building next to my parents (opposite Mandakini). Her parents are originally from NZ but she grew up in America. Her and her family were in Christchurch last year for a few weeks. (Also during the 4 Sept earthquake). In a relationship with Vana.
* Nimai - the owner of the local "supermarket" along with his brother Kanai. Context used: "I'm just going to pop down to Nimai's to pick up some veges." Knows a little something in practically every language - Russian, Spanish, Bengali, English, French, even a bit of Maori!
* Pita - My father. Also known as Grand-Pita. Not to be confused with Peter.
* Rachel - Ishaan's teacher at school. Fantastic teacher. Lovely person. Also the mother of Syami (2yrs) and Ramai (4yrs) who are good friends of Ishaan.
* Ramadevi - Also known as Doctor Ramadevi. Originally from Scotland (I think?). Local midwife for the devotees in the community. As you may have guessed, also the local doctor. Also a very good friend. And the best cupcake maker. Actually a pretty damn good cook all round.
* Revati - Sadbhuja's secretary, works with me in the office. Italian. Makes good pasta.
* Sadbhuja - My boss. The managing director at the ToVP. Provides hot beverages and a good laugh at work.
* Santana - My mothers maid and also sometimes Ishaan's babysitter. Speaks no English.
* Sri Balaram - Husband of Balaram Priya. Russian. About a year older than me. Hilarious. Ishaan's best friend (Also a Virgo). Ishaan and I will be staying in their apartment when they go to Russia over the summer.
* Syamalika - Also may be referred to as Matis or Auntie Syami. My younger sister, currently living in NYC with her fiance Nilamani (aka Uncle Abhi). They're getting married here in Mayapur in March next year, shortly before we head back to India. We miss her lots and lots and skype often. (Happy now S?)
* Vana - Pretty awesome. Mani's boyfriend/man/"friend"/whatever you want to call it. Ishaan loves him.
* Veronica - Originally from Ecuador but came here in October to study. Only been a devotee since the day she came to Mayapur but you wouldn't know it. Beautiful and sweet person, speaks wonderful English considering she only picked it up when she came to Mayapur.
